WILLOW

Some horses do well at a rescue for long periods of time. Chester, Tommy, Ulie and Lark? they are all settled and happy. It is a busy pasture and there are always horses that are moving the herd or pestering someone. Willow is one that would do much better in a quiet pasture. One where she isnt moved from hay pile to pile. Willow is a sweet mare that is gaining weight by the day. She holds her own when someone pesters her but I feel like if she could just relax and not worry about the other 6 horses in the pasture, she would be happier. Willow is looking for a home with one or two other horses. A home that will just let her decompress and ask nothing from her. She is a shy mare and it has taken a few months for her to trust enough to have someone walk up to her. She doesnt run but she is so aware of her surroundings that she nervously moves to the other side of a horse, kinda like the kid that wont make eye contact with the teacher when a question is asked.... she tries to melt into the herd and not be noticed. But with patience and time she has realized that sometimes when a person comes close, it doesnt mean bad things. sometimes its a snack on the lawn (her favorite thing to do). Sometimes a brushing which she stands quietly for (never truely enjoying it). She is good with the farrier and vet, more shut down then accepting - Willow is looking for someone that wants to break through that disengagement and try to share some some mutual love - not just force her to do things but show her she has choices. Willow, because of previous injures, can never be ridden. |
